Gagner's father, Dave, was a first round draft choice (12th overall) of the New York Rangers in 1983 and played 946 NHL games with seven different teams.

Gagner has five goals on 12 shootout attempts this season (through Jan. 14) and has four game deciding goals.

Gagner and Blackhawks fellow rookie Patrick Kane were linemates with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League in 2006-07.
