Mueller scored his first career hat trick on Nov. 7, 2007 against the Anaheim Ducks. Mueller is the only rookie to score a hat-trick this season.

After two years with the U.S. National Development Team program, Mueller went to play for former NHL coach Kevin Constantine with Everett in the Western Hockey League.

Mueller was the youngest member of Team USA at the 2006 World Junior Championships, playing alongside fellow YoungStar Jack Johnson and against Canadian Youngstars Marc Staal and Kris Letang.
