Alexander EDLER (EHD-luhr, al-EHX-AN-duhr) Vancouver Canucks
Defense. Shoots left. 6'3'', 220 lbs. Born, Ostersund, Sweden, April 21, 1986.
Vancouver's 2nd choice, 91st overall, in 2004 Entry Draft.
2007-08 Statistics as of Jan. 24/08: 43 GP – 2 G – 8 A – 10 Pts. – 18 PIM
Edler dethroned five-time champion Sami Salo in the hardest shot competition at Canucks skills competition earlier this month. Edler's best shot registered 99.3 miles-per-hour.

After spending time both injured and in the minors in October, Edler has played every game for the Canucks since October 24 in Detroit.

The Canucks traded a third round draft choice in 2005 to Dallas in order to move up in the Entry Draft and select Edler 91st overall in 2004.

Edler has come a long way since he was not even included in the 2004 Entry Draft rankings of the top 161 European skaters.
