Chara led all Bruins with 27:57 per game last season and has logged several games of 30 minutes or more this season.

Chara won the ‘Hardest Shot' event at the 2007 All-Star Skills event, registering 100.4 miles per hour on his second shot. The All-Star record is 105.2 mph, set in 1993 in Montreal by Al Iafrate, then with Washington. Also participated in the Hardest Shot event in 2003 – registering shots of 97.8 and 96.0 miles per hour.

Chara on his 2007 All-Star Game appearance in which his Eastern All-Stars lost 12-9: "We just wanted to play a puck-moving game and a skating game so the fans could enjoy it."

Chara's father was a Greco-Roman wrestler for Czechoslovakia at the 1976 Olympics.
