Playing in his ninth NHL season, all with Toronto, Kaberle ranks fourth on the Maple Leafs' all-time scoring list among defensemen, trailing only Borje Salming, Tim Horton and Ian Turnbull.
Kaberle's older brother Frantisek is a defenseman with the Carolina Hurricanes. Their father, Frantisek Kaberle Sr., played for the Czechoslovakian national team in the 1970's and coached around the world. Tomas learned to skate while his dad was based in Japan.
