Scott NIEDERMAYER (NEE-duhr-MIGH-uhr, SKAWT) Anaheim Ducks
Defense. Shoots left. 6'1'', 200 lbs. Born, Edmonton, Alta., August 31, 1973.
New Jersey's 1st choice, 3rd overall, in 1991 Entry Draft.
2007-08 Statistics as of Jan. 24/08: 18 GP – 2 G – 9 A – 11 Pts. – 4 PIM
Since returning to the NHL on Dec. 16, Niedermayer has posted 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in 17 games through Jan. 22. The Ducks have posted a 12-3-2 record in that span, the best mark in the NHL.

Niedermayer captured the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP of the 2007 Stanley Cup playoffs. He finished the postseason third among NHL defensemen in scoring with 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 21 games. Niedermayer scored two playoff overtime goals, tied for the most by a defenseman in one playoff year (others were Detroit's Leo Reise in 1950, Chicago's Chris Chelios in 1995 and Carolina Niclas Wallin in 2002). Additionally, Niedermayer scored the game-tying goal with 48 seconds left before Teemu Selanne scored in OT to give the Ducks a crucial 2-1 victory in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final at Detroit May 20.
