SCOTT GOMEZ IS RANGERS' LONE ALL-STAR John Dellapina writes in the New York Daily News, "Scott Gomez would have been uncomfortable discussing the news under almost any other circumstances. But on this day, with teammates fighting for space in the trainer's room to tend to various hurts when they weren't wandering around the locker room trying to make sense of a season that is unexpectedly unraveling, Gomez could muster particularly little excitement about a personal accolade. Informed right after practice that he had been the lone Ranger named to the Eastern Conference team for the Jan. 27 All-Star Game in Atlanta, Gomez had trouble looking any further than to Saturday's Garden game against Montreal." |
CROSS THAT BRIDGE – WITH RANGERS GOMEZ LEAVES DEVILS BEHIND Mark Everson writes in the New York Post, "When Scott Gomez sought Manhattan housing, he says he didn't bite right away. "First place I saw, the guy says, 'Look at this view.' It was across the river at New Jersey. I said, hey, I just moved from there," Gomez said. The new Ranger expected a good look at where he came from, NHL-wise, in his first game against the Devils last night at the Garden. He just didn't know what to expect from that good look." |
AN EX IN THE CITY Bridget Wentworth writes in the Star-Ledger, "Scott Gomez's practice-day routine used to go something like this: Wake up, get in the car and head to the Dunkin' Donuts across the street from Codey Arena in West Orange. Grab his morning pick-me-up and head over to the rink. Practice, get back in the car, and go to lunch somewhere with a few Devils teammates. Head home. Sit around. Have dinner – sometimes in, sometimes out. But life is significantly different for Gomez since he signed a seven-year, $51.5 million deal with the Rangers this past summer." |
