Rick DiPIETRO (dee-pee-EHT-roh, RIHK) New York Islanders
Goaltender. Catches right. 6'1', 210 lbs. Born, Winthrop, MA, September 19, 1981.
NY Islanders' 1st choice, 1st overall, in 2000 Entry Draft.
2007-08 Statistics as of Jan. 24/08: 44 GP – 19 W – 17 L – 6 OT – 2564 Mins. – 110 GA – 2 SO – 2.57 Avg.
DiPietro, who made his NHL debut in 2000-01, is the tenured Islander. He enjoyed the finest season of his pro career in 2006-07, posting a 32-19-9 record with a 2.58 goals-against average and .919 save percentage. Limited to 62 games due to injury, DiPietro still recorded a career high in victories and tied the franchise record previously shared by Billy Smith (1981-82) and Chris Osgood (2001-02). He also became the first goaltender in franchise history to post 30 or more victories in consecutive seasons.

In a performance that already has passed into Islanders lore, DiPietro – making his 15th consecutive start – stopped a franchise-record 56 of 57 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to the New York Rangers March 5, 2007 at Madison Square Garden.
