| Pavel DATSYUK (daht-SOOK, PAH-vehl) |
Detroit Red Wings |
|
Detroit head coach Mike Babcock: "I hear everybody talking about (Vincent) Lecavalier and (Sidney) Crosby. But the best player in the league right now is Datsyuk, without any question. He just upped the ante that much. I think Pavel, if you want to bring someone out of your seat, single flash one-on-one, putting the puck on a string, there's no one that can do it like him."
Detroit teammate Dan Cleary: "I've always wondered how come Homer (Tomas Holmstrom) is always smiling every day, and now I know why. It's a real treat, an honor (to play with Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg). As a player offensively, it's so much fun. They have the puck all night. I just go to the net. It's pretty easy...Datsyuk's a world-class player. He has a great work ethic. He's a great stick-handler. He's shooting the puck more this season and he's got such a deceiving wrist shot."
Detroit GM Ken Holland: "We believe in him. We believe he's one of the top centermen in the game... the top players are all getting five, six, seven years, so we're very happy he's locked in long-term. He's one of the most gifted players in the game and he plays hard every shift, offense and defense."
Detroit teammate Kris Draper: "As good as (Zetterberg and Datsyuk) are and as well as they're playing, one reason is they have a lot of fun playing together. Pav (Datsyuk) and Hank (Zetterberg) basically play keep-away with each other after practice and I think they really push each other, a very healthy type of competition. They try to push each other every night to be a great line, to be a dominant line. Right now, it's certainly working. For everyone in this dressing room, it's fun to watch them night-in, night-out."
Former linemate Brett Hull: "He's the smartest player I've ever played with."
Dallas goaltender Marty Turco: "The hands, the feet, the moves ... they're magical"
