| Paul STASTNY (STAS-nee, PAWL) |
Colorado Avalanche |
|
Colorado head coach Joel Quenneville: "He's got a lot of respect for the game and how he approaches it. Paul comes from a proud, competitive family. Some kids are just bright. You can't teach that. The puck follows them around. Makes them special ... Certainly Paul can handle his way through traffic. He's one of those guys that his anticipation with or without the puck is extremely high and it doesn't distract him who's on the ice with him. Despite the score of the game and the time of the game he seems to handle it each and every day. He's a complete player."
Los Angeles head coach Marc Crawford: "What impresses you so much about Stastny is the ability to withstand the defensive pressure he gets. Even if somebody like a Rob Blake leans on him, he has the ability to make a great play. He doesn't just make good plays, he makes great plays. He's one of the top centers in this league, for sure."
Colorado forward Ian Laperriere: "It's something Stastny has got in him. He's a lot like Joe (Sakic). He's a leader who doesn't scream and yell in the locker room, but goes out and works hard every night. But when something needs to be said, Stastny is not afraid to say it. It's very rare at age 21 or 22 to be mature in that way. You either have got it or you don't. And he's got it."
