On his improved output: "Protecting the puck has always been important, but nowadays it's even better if you can protect the puck and get guys open, or help them get to the spot where they're going. With the new game, it took me a year to understand you can hold onto the puck and control it even longer. It's an advantage."
On this season: "For sure, you get more mature over the years but I think confidence from the team part and the coaching staff, that, too, helps a lot. Knowing that if you make a mistake, it doesn't matter, they still want you to keep trying to make those plays. Even if you turn the puck, they want you to create that offence. That makes me more comfortable, knowing, hey, if I make a mistake, I won't sit on the bench. They want me to keep trying. If your coaching staff and team has confidence in you, it makes the game much easier."
On his chemistry with Brenden Morrow: "We complement each other, I think. It just clicked, ever since I got here. We're not the type of guys who talk about what we're going to do on the ice or which play we're going to make. He works so hard, a complete player, a competitive player, who can really shoot."
