Manny LEGACE (LEH-gah-see, MAN-ee) St. Louis Blues
LEGACE EARNS HIS FIRST TRIP TO ALL-STAR GAME
Norm Sanders writes in the News-Democrat, "For the first time in his nine-year NHL career, St. Louis Blues goalie Manny Legace is headed to the All-Star game. Legace was named to the Western Conference team on Thursday, joining San Jose's Evgeni Nabokov and former Blues goalie Chris Osgood of the Detroit Red Wings. The 34-year-old Legace is 17-10-2 and ranks fifth in the league with a 2.05 goals-against average. He also has three shutouts."
LEGACE SHUTTING THE DOOR ON OPPOSITION
Mike Morreale writes on NHL.com, "The final day of 2007 will certainly go down as one of the most memorable in the career of St. Louis Blues goalie Manny Legace. On New Year's Eve, Legace turned aside 31 shots to record a 2-0 victory over his former employer, the Detroit Red Wings. It marked the first time since Jan. 11, 1993, when Guy Hebert blanked the Red Wings, that a Blues goalie notched a shutout at the famed Joe Louis Arena."
TRIMMER LEGACE CUTTING DOWN ON BLUES' GOALS AGAINST
Larry Wigge writes on NHL.com, "Manny Legace had an excruciatingly long time to think about this season after he injured his right knee Feb. 28 and shortly thereafter had to end his 2006-07 season far too early to the little goaltender's liking. Legace was on a roll, posting an 18-6-4 record with a 2.10 goals-against average and five shutouts after the hiring of Andy Murray as coach of the Blues. The 34-year-old Toronto native was more than excited about St. Louis and his future there, so much so that he didn't balk when Blues' management asked him to spend the summer in town working on his fitness."
