Spezza was named the NHL's Player of the Month for December, posting a 10-game point streak from Dec. 12-29 with nine goals and 11 assists in that span. He tallied a career-high 34 goals in 2006-07 and finished the regular season second on the club in scoring with 87 points. He was not held pointless in consecutive games (regular season) after Oct. 12-14.

Spezza had a career year as a 22-year-old in 2005-06, recording a career-high 90 points (19 goals, 71 assists) in his third NHL season. His 71 assists set a franchise record and was second in the League to Hart Trophy winner Joe Thornton (96).
