Daniel ALFREDSSON (AHL-frehd-suhn, DAN-yehl) Ottawa Senators
Right wing. Shoots right. 5'11'', 207 lbs. Born, Goteborg, Sweden, December 11, 1972.
Ottawa's 5th choice, 133rd overall, in 1994 Entry Draft.
2007-08 Statistics as of Jan. 24/08: 47 GP – 32 G – 35 A – 67 Pts. – 20 PIM
In Ottawa's last game before the All-Star break (Jan/24 vs. Tampa Bay), Alfredsson scored three goals and added four assists to take over as the NHL's leading point scorer.

This is the eighth consecutive season in which Alfredsson has scored 20 or more goals. There are 18 active players who have scored 20-plus goals in each of the past seven (or more) seasons, including fellow All-Stars Jarome Iginla (9), Jason Arnott (8), Vincent Lecavalier (8), Marian Hossa (7) and Joe Thornton (7).

In his All-Star Game debut in 1996, started the game on a line with Philadelphia Flyers center Craig MacTavish and Brendan Shanahan of the Hartford Whalers. He was the only NHL rookie to compete in the 1996 Game. Alfredsson: ''I don't think I'll say much in the dressing room. When I get on the ice, I'll be more comfortable.'' He went on to win the Calder Trophy that year and was the only rookie to lead his team in scoring.

Alfredsson was a defenseman while playing as a teenager in Sweden until the age of 14 when his coach switched him to forward.

Alfredsson has served as Ottawa captain since 1999-2000, tied with Montreal's Saku Koivu for the League's third-longest tenure behind Colorado's Joe Sakic (1992-93) and Toronto's Mats Sundin (1997-98).

Alfredsson's favorite player growing up was Hakan Loob, the NHL's first Swedish 50-goal scorer.

In his 812th career NHL game, Alfredsson collected his 800th career point by setting up Jason Spezza's goal at 5:43 of the third period on Dec. 13. He became the 59th player to score 800 or more points for one NHL franchise.
