Chris PRONGER (PRAWN-guhr, KRIHS) Anaheim Ducks
Defense. Shoots left. 6'6'', 220 lbs. Born, Dryden, Ont., October 10, 1974.
Hartford's 1st choice, 2nd overall, in 1993 Entry Draft.
2007-08 Statistics as of Jan. 24/08: 53 GP – 11 G – 25 A – 36 Pts. – 98 PIM
Leads the League in average time on ice, averaging 27:40 per game on the season. He played a season-high 32:56 on October 28 against Edmonton, his former team.

Pronger was named the franchise's seventh captain heading into the 2007-08 season. Pronger also was named captain of the Blues at the age of 23 in 1997.

Pronger had two assists in his All-Star Game debut in 1999 in Tampa Bay. After the game, he remarked: "All you have to is move the puck up to these guys and let them do their jobs. They're All-Stars."

Pronger, Pavol Demitra and Al MacInnis represented the St. Louis Blues at the 1999 All-Star Game in Tampa Bay as the North America All-Stars defeated the World All-Stars 8-6.

At his first All-Star Game in 1999, Pronger reflected on his minor hockey days in Dryden, Ontario. "We always played – we always organized games. I don't know where I get it, but I just don't like losing. I always have been a poor sport when it comes to losing... from the time I was six years old. I hated losing. We'd have body contact, and then we'd have fights. We'd have these big puffy gloves. You'd drop your one glove so you could hang on and then you'd have it out. It kept the game interesting. You'd get the odd bloody nose; you'd just have to lay in the snow for a minute, let it stop and get back out there."

Anaheim GM Brian Burke, then general manager of the Hartford Whalers, drafted Pronger second overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.

When he was 16 years old, Pronger was cut from the All-Ontario under-17 program after starring at Dryden High, only to get a second chance with a wild-card berth and make the team.
